Short Loans

Items in high demand may be used in the Library for a maximum of 2 hours. Please enquire at the Circulation Desk.

Inter-Library Loans

This service forms part of the national and international inter-library loans network, allowing participating libraries to borrow and lend material according to their own lending criteria.

Outside Membership

CPUT Libraries participates in the CHELiN consortium under the Cape Higher Education Consortium (CHEC).

  • CHELiN students: 2 items
  • CHELiN / shared courses / CHELSA students: 2 items
  • Corporate membership (R10 000 per annum): 6 items

Access & Services

  • Study facilities may be restricted to CPUT students during peak demand
  • All materials may be used within the Library
  • No access to photocopying, printing, or internet services
  • Short Loan items: In-library use only
  • Subject reference services available if required
  • No access to Knowledge Commons, Research Commons, or seminar rooms

Borrowing (CHELiN Borrowers)

  • Registration upon presentation of referral letter from home library
  • Loan period: 14 days
  • Loan quota: Students (2 items), Staff (3 items)
  • Fines apply for overdue and short-loan materials
  • Replacement costs apply for lost or damaged items
